Tim Rusk is a criminal defense attorney with Dunham & Jones in the Corpus Christi office, where he represents clients facing misdemeanor and felony criminal charges throughout South Texas. He brings a disciplined and practical approach to his work, shaped by a background that includes military service, private legal practice, and experience as a prosecutor. His career reflects a steady commitment to public service, legal accountability, and professional responsibility. Before attending law school, Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Colorado. His undergraduate education provided a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. These skills continue to play an important role in his legal practice, particularly when evaluating evidence, assessing risk, and developing structured legal strategies.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Tim served on active duty in the United States Army as an infantry soldier. His military service emphasized discipline, responsibility, and teamwork under demanding conditions. This experience helped shape his approach to challenges and reinforced the importance of preparation, consistency, and attention to detail. The values developed during his service continue to influence his professional conduct as an attorney.
Tim later earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law. While in law school, he focused on developing practical legal skills and gaining real-world experience. He interned with the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Fraud Division, where he assisted with legal research, case review, and investigative support. This role provided insight into how government agencies investigate and litigate complex matters and reinforced the importance of thorough legal analysis.
After law school, Tim opened The Law Office of Tim Rusk in Tarrant County, Texas, where he practiced criminal law. Running his own practice required him to manage cases from start to finish while working directly with clients. This experience strengthened his understanding of client communication, case preparation, and courtroom procedure. It also gave him first hand exposure to the practical realities individuals face when involved in the criminal justice system.
Tim later relocated to Corpus Christi and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nueces County, Texas, a position he held for five years. In that role, he handled a wide range of criminal cases and worked closely with law enforcement, victims, and court personnel. His experience as a prosecutor gave him a detailed understanding of how cases are charged, evaluated, and litigated by the state. This perspective now informs his work in criminal defense, allowing him to anticipate prosecutorial strategies and assess cases with clarity.
In addition to his legal career, Tim served as an Associate Pastor for a local church for two years. This role involved leadership, counseling, and community engagement, further reinforcing his commitment to service and ethical responsibility.
In 2025, Tim joined Dunham & Jones in Corpus Christi, where he represents clients across South Texas in both misdemeanor and felony cases. He is committed to providing diligent, professional representation and believes that every case deserves careful attention and respect for the legal process. His work is guided by preparation, integrity, and a clear focus on protecting his clients’ rights.
Outside of his legal practice, Tim enjoys weightlifting and hiking, activities that reflect his appreciation for discipline, balance, and personal well-being.
