Natnael ‘Nat’ Nigussie, Dallas Criminal Attorney

Natnael ‘Nat’ Nigussie is a criminal defense attorney in the Dallas office of Dunham & Jones. He handles mostly misdemeanor cases, the majority of them DWIs, and appears most often in Dallas County Criminal Court No. 9. Texas licensed him in 2025, and he has tried a case to a jury as first chair.

Apart from his years in school in Houston, he has lived in Dallas County since he was four years old. He graduated cum laude from the University of Houston in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in political science, then earned his Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2025, where he focused on criminal law and procedure.

Mr. Nigussie trained on both sides of a criminal case. He interned with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in the summers of 2023 and 2024, working in Criminal District Court No. 7, a felony court, where he helped prosecutors with case preparation, legal research, and trial support. At the Law Offices of David Sloane, he interned in the summer of 2023 and externed in the fall of 2023 and the summer and fall of 2024, working with defense attorneys on research, discovery review, and pretrial motions.

Mr. Nigussie does criminal defense work because it is one of the few fields of law where more than money is at stake, and he wants to make a serious difference in people’s lives.

Outside of work, he plays in a church soccer league and used to play in a tennis group.
