Darice Shaw, Dallas Criminal Attorney

Darice Shaw is a criminal defense attorney in the Dallas office of Dunham & Jones. She regularly handles DWI, assault and family violence, drug charges, sex crimes, theft, and weapons offenses, and she appears in both misdemeanor and felony courts in Dallas County.

Ms. Shaw is from Wichita, Kansas. She earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, with a minor in psychology, from Wichita State University in 2004, then spent 2007 to 2010 as a parole officer in Fort Worth before law school. She earned her Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, with a concentration in tax. From 2015 to 2019 she was an Assistant Public Defender at the Dallas County Public Defender's Office, where she handled thousands of adult misdemeanor cases, and she has worked exclusively in criminal defense ever since. Her whole career has been spent defending cases in Dallas.

She has tried at least 15 cases as first chair and at least 20 as second chair, and she has handled more than 2,000 cases.

Ms. Shaw sets expectations early. Every client gets an interview so she knows their background and what they want out of the case, and she walks them through the charge, the law, and each option for resolving it before giving her own advice. The work holds her because every day is different and every case is a problem to solve for someone who needs the help.

Ms. Shaw is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She belongs to the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Dallas Bar Association.
