Sean Anthony Wright, Houston Criminal Attorney

Sean Anthony Wright is a criminal defense attorney in the Houston office of Dunham & Jones and a former chief of police. He handles DWI, assault and family violence, drug, sex offense, theft, and weapons cases, both misdemeanors and felonies, and appears most often in Chambers, Liberty, and Harris Counties.

Mr. Wright served with the Seabrook Police Department from 1992 to 2023, moving from training officer to patrol sergeant, CID sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and finally chief. That career gives him a working knowledge of how officers run investigations, what their procedures require, and where a case can break down.

His Bachelor of Science in law enforcement and police science comes from Sam Houston State University in 1990, and his Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Texas licensed him in 2002, and he is a police instructor certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Wright was a staff attorney with ALTO, representing retailers including Target, Walgreens, CVS, Academy, and Kroger, and working with law enforcement and prosecutors on organized retail crime cases.

Mr. Wright approaches each case through communication, case management, and evaluation. That means staying in contact with both the client and the State, keeping case files current, following up on tasks quickly, and re-evaluating as new information arrives. He built his career in criminal justice, and criminal defense was the natural next step.

He has lived in the Houston area for much of his life and volunteers with Communities in Schools Bay Area.
