Lia Reshae’ Polk, Dallas Criminal Attorney

Lia Reshae' Polk is a criminal defense attorney in the Dallas office of Dunham & Jones and a former Dallas County public defender. She handles misdemeanor and felony cases in Dallas County, including drug possession, property offenses, driving while intoxicated, assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and injury to a child or an elderly person. She has represented hundreds of clients.

A Dallas native, Ms. Polk earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Houston in 1997 and her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2004. Texas licensed her that year.

She spent more than a decade as an Assistant Public Defender with the Dallas County Public Defender's Office and has also practiced privately, representing both adults and juveniles. She has served as second chair on two capital murder cases in which the State did not seek the death penalty, and she has tried felony and misdemeanor cases as first chair, to juries and to the bench.

Ms. Polk has taught as adjunct faculty at Dallas College in the School of Law and Public Service, covering criminal law along with conflict management and dispute resolution. She sits on the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association's Attorney Outreach and Engagement Committee and is a member of the Texas Bar College.

Ms. Polk works every case as though it is going to trial, starting with the strengths and weaknesses of the State's case. She walks each client through their rights, their options, and the collateral consequences they face. She treats every client the way she would want her own family treated.

Outside of work, Ms. Polk spends time with her family, her church, and community service.
