Weston Ray Jones, Denton Criminal Attorney

Weston Ray Jones is a criminal defense attorney in the Denton office of Dunham & Jones. He handles felony cases, most often theft, assault, drug, and sex offense charges, and he appears primarily in Denton and Cooke Counties.

Mr. Jones grew up in Denton County and stayed there for college, earning a B.B.A. in General Business with a minor in Philosophy from the University of North Texas. He went on to Texas Tech University School of Law, where he competed in mock trial and moot court, and earned his Juris Doctor in 2017. He was licensed in Texas in 2019.

Before joining Dunham & Jones, Mr. Jones worked in criminal defense, family law, and immigration. His criminal defense work has ranged from misdemeanors to capital murder cases in counties in and around the DFW area. He has tried more than 20 jury trials as first chair, out of hundreds of cases.

Mr. Jones reviews the evidence, weighs the odds and the risks, and tells the client what he thinks. Some cases are worth fighting at trial and some are better resolved by agreement, and that call depends on the details of the case in front of him. He does criminal defense because a person facing the State can lose their freedom if no one stands up for them. He saw that as a teenager, watching a good attorney keep someone out of the system's reach, and it is why he went into this work.

Outside of the office, Mr. Jones practices Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He formerly played ice hockey.
