Sara Thornburg, Fort Worth Criminal Attorney

Sara Thornburg is a criminal defense attorney with Dunham & Jones who represents clients in Fort Worth and the surrounding Tarrant County and DFW Metroplex area. Her path to criminal defense began with a foundation in human behavior. Sara earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Colorado Mesa University before going on to receive her Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

After law school, Sara built her early courtroom and client-counseling experience in family law and personal injury before transitioning into criminal defense. That mix of practice areas gave her an early appreciation for how a legal case rarely sits in isolation. It touches a client's family, finances, employment, and reputation all at once, and she carries that whole-picture awareness into every criminal matter she handles today.

Her trial work reflects that commitment. In a recent DWI case arising out of a late-night traffic stop in Colleyville, Sara served on the defense team alongside Kathy Ehmann-Clardy and helped secure a Not Guilty verdict from a Tarrant County jury. The case turned on a careful, methodical examination of the State's field sobriety testing. The defense walked the jury through the gap between what the officer recorded in real time and what the State later argued the evidence showed, including a blood result drawn nearly two hours after the stop. The verdict reinforced a principle Sara takes seriously: a charge is not proof, and a careful look at the evidence is every client's right.

Outside of her practice, Sara is an avid rock climber and Pilates enthusiast. She also enjoys reading poetry and listening to true-crime podcasts. Both reflect, in different ways, the same curiosity about human nature and human stories that first drew her to the law.
