Emma C. Thompson is an attorney in the Fort Worth office of Dunham & Jones. She handles Administrative License Revocation (ALR) hearings, the driver's license suspension proceedings that can follow a DWI arrest, and she appears primarily in Tarrant County. She has handled more than 400 of these cases. When police begin a DWI investigation, she says, they have often already assumed the driver is intoxicated, so she reviews each case for places where officers over-relied on that assumption and brings those arguments against the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on her client's behalf.
Born in Dallas, Ms. Thompson has lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area nearly all her life, apart from a few elementary school years in Austin. She graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University in 2020 with a degree in Forensic and Investigative Sciences and was a member of the Opera and Performing Arts Society. Her degree gave her a working understanding of how criminal investigations gather evidence and how that evidence is presented in court. That background led her to Texas A&M School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2024. She was licensed in Texas in 2025.
Before joining Dunham & Jones, Ms. Thompson was a full-time intern with the FBI in Dallas from 2018 to 2021, working with divisions that included public corruption, asset forfeiture, white-collar crime, and crimes against children. In 2021 she interned at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Fort Worth, drafting motions and doing legal research, and she held a Top Secret security clearance. During law school she interned with Cofer Luster Law Firm in 2023. After that time on the prosecution side, she found she was more drawn to working with and for actual people, not just names in case reports.
Ms. Thompson believes everyone deserves justice and compassionate representation. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her younger siblings and her cat, Roo.
