Alec Comerford, Austin Criminal Attorney

Alec Michael Comerford is a criminal defense attorney in the Austin office of Dunham & Jones. He handles DWI, assault and family violence, theft, drug charges, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and burglary of a habitation, taking most kinds of criminal cases apart from homicides and federal matters. He has tried cases to a jury and has handled hundreds of cases, appearing in Walker, Polk, Madison, Wharton, Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Jackson, Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, and Matagorda Counties.

Mr. Comerford is from Dallas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in finance from Texas Tech University in 2018, where he competed in mock trial, and his law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock. Arkansas licensed him in February 2023 and Texas in August 2023, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas admitted him in March 2026.

His interest in criminal defense started at the Pulaski County Public Defender’s Office, where he clerked from 2021 to 2022 and argued detention hearings for juveniles and bond hearings for adults while he was still in law school. From 2022 to 2023 he served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Stephanie Barrett at the Arkansas Court of Appeals, researching the law and drafting proposed memoranda.

Mr. Comerford joined Dunham & Jones to protect the rights of people facing prosecution. He belongs to the Texas and Arkansas Bar Associations and serves as a Big Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas.

Outside of work, he lifts weights, reads, and eats Texas barbecue.
