Kyle Joseph Eccles is a criminal defense attorney in the Amarillo office of Dunham & Jones. DWI cases make up most of his practice, along with felonies, drug charges, assaults, and weapons charges. He appears most often in the county and district courts of Potter, Randall, and Deaf Smith Counties and in the county courts of Parmer, Dallam, Hartley, and Oldham Counties.
Mr. Eccles graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2016. He then attended the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and received his Juris Doctor and a Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law in 2019. During his last year of law school, he served as president and commissioner of the LSU Law Football Club, an organization that raises money for charities throughout Louisiana.
After law school, Mr. Eccles spent more than four years as a consultant on civil litigation in New Orleans with Shuart & Associates, starting as a contract employee in 2020 and becoming a lead consultant in 2022. He handled matters involving oil and gas litigation, corporate real estate transactions, and insurance coverage disputes for businesses. After he was licensed in Texas in 2025, he moved to Amarillo and joined Dunham & Jones to advocate and negotiate on behalf of his clients. He has served as first chair and second chair in jury trials and has handled hundreds of cases.
Mr. Eccles reviews discovery and watches the relevant video footage before advising a client. He then walks the client through the strengths, weaknesses, defenses, and risks of the case and builds a strategy around the result the client wants. He says hearing a client's anxiety ease during those conversations is what makes him proud of the work.
Outside of work, he lifts weights, hikes, and bikes.
