Sminu "Sim" Peter, Dallas Criminal Attorney
Sminu "Sim" Peter is a criminal defense attorney in the Dallas office of Dunham & Jones, and he has spent his entire career doing one thing: defending people accused of crimes across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Over that career he has built a reputation among judges, prosecutors, and clients as a trial lawyer who knows the law cold and gets results.
Mr. Peter earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas and his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan School of Law — now Texas A&M University School of Law. Before joining Dunham & Jones, he was a founding partner of Peter & Lanzillo, PLLC in Plano, where he practiced criminal defense exclusively for nearly a decade. Earlier in his career, he served as a Senior Associate at Stanley & Associates, PLLC in Richardson, where he managed the firm's criminal defense department, chaired the hiring committee, and supervised its attorney staff.
Mr. Peter has secured countless dismissals for his clients and has litigated jury trials across the full range of the Texas Penal Code, from Class C misdemeanors to first-degree felonies. While his practice is primarily in state court, he is also licensed to appear in federal court in both the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. Beyond his own docket, he has helped shape the next generation of Texas lawyers as an Adjunct Professor at UNT Dallas College of Law.
