Kevinesha J. Lewis is a criminal defense attorney in the Houston office of Dunham & Jones. She represents clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Harris County.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Ms. Lewis graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in English Literature. She worked as an assistant branch rental manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in New Orleans from 2019 to 2022, and she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2024.
In law school, Ms. Lewis completed more than 200 hours of pro bono work and received a pro bono honor cord in 2024. Her classmates elected her to class council as a 1L and a 2L. She served as chief of staff for the Western Region of the National Black Law Students Association, was vice president of the Black Law Students Association chapter at Idaho, and coached the Lakeside High School trial team through the Native American Law Students Association.
She interned at the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office in 2023 and at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Pullman, Washington, in 2024, and she worked in the University of Idaho Criminal Appellate Clinic as a limited licensed legal intern in the fall of 2024. After she was licensed in Texas in 2025, she worked as a litigation intake attorney at Thomas J. Henry Injury Law in Houston before joining Dunham & Jones. A love of big-city life is what brought her to Houston.
Ms. Lewis starts every case by identifying what the client wants to achieve, along with the facts and the key legal issues. She then reviews the evidence, weighs the strengths and weaknesses of the case, and builds a strategy around the client's goal. She does this work to advocate for people and to guide them through a system that can change the course of their lives.
