Angela Morin Godoy is a criminal defense attorney in the Corpus Christi office of Dunham & Jones and a former prosecutor. Licensed in Texas in 1998, she has worked on every side of the state's criminal and municipal courts: as a county prosecutor, in a city attorney's office, and now in defense.
A Corpus Christi native, Ms. Godoy earned bachelor's degrees in English and criminal justice from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, then her law degree from the university's William H. Bowen School of Law.
She began her career as a prosecutor in Brazos County and later moved to the City Attorney's Office, where she handled municipal and criminal law, tried cases to the bench and to juries, and trained prosecutors entering the profession. Her municipal work included updates to fire department policies, historical board and building standards ordinances, and representing cities in arbitration hearings involving police officers accused of misconduct.
Ms. Godoy now builds her defense practice on what she learned across the table. She goes through the State's case to find where it is weak and works from there, and much of her trial work is in DWI. She treats clients like a friend or a family member, and her ties to South Texas run deep.
Ms. Godoy served as President of the Brazos County Bar Association from 2013 to 2014. She belongs to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Coastal Bend Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Corpus Christi Bar Association, and she serves on the board of the Coastal Bend Women Lawyers Association.
Outside the office, Ms. Godoy spends time with friends and family, and she is most often at the beach or out hearing live music.
