Chad A. Davis is a criminal defense attorney in the Houston office of Dunham & Jones who represents people facing misdemeanor and felony charges, with a caseload built mostly around DWI defense. He appears most often in Harris County Criminal Courts at Law Nos. 6, 7, and 8. Drawing on experience from both sides of the courtroom, he gives clients practical representation at every stage of a criminal case.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Davis served as a misdemeanor prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney's Office from 2024 to 2025. That work showed him how cases are evaluated, negotiated, and tried, and it informs the defense strategy he builds around each client's circumstances. He then practiced criminal defense at a Houston DWI firm before joining Dunham & Jones. As both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, he has tried cases to a jury and handled hundreds of cases.
Mr. Davis earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2024, where he co-founded the Veteran Law Student Association and held several of its officer roles. During law school and throughout his career, he has been committed to protecting the constitutional rights of people accused of crimes. He earned a degree in political science from Washington State University Vancouver in 2016.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Davis served five years in the United States Marine Corps and left as a corporal. His final role was Test Cell Supervisor and Collateral Duty Inspector, handling quality assurance on the T64 engines of the CH-53 heavy-lift helicopter. He brings the discipline and sense of service he learned in the Marines to every client he represents.
Mr. Davis understands that a criminal accusation can be overwhelming and life-changing, and he gives clients clear communication, honest guidance, and aggressive advocacy through some of the hardest moments of their lives. Originally from Southern California, he is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National College for DUI Defense.
