Ivan Barrera, San Antonio Criminal Attorney

Ivan Barrera is a dedicated criminal defense attorney at Dunham & Jones, representing clients across San Antonio and surrounding areas with a deep sense of purpose and personal conviction. Born and raised in San Juan, Texas—located in the Rio Grande Valley—Mr. Barrera is a first-generation American and the proud son of migrant field workers. He was the first in his family to attend college, a milestone that laid the foundation for his career in the law and lifelong pursuit of justice.

Mr. Barrera earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas–Pan American and received his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law. While in law school, he participated in the Criminal Law Clinic, where he gained hands-on experience representing clients under supervision. His casework included a writ of habeas corpus in a capital murder matter, representation of a juvenile in a family violence case, and appointment as ad litem in federal court for a juvenile facing potential child pornography charges.

Prior to joining Dunham & Jones, Mr. Barrera clerked at a prominent Texas firm that focused on criminal defense and personal injury, further sharpening his litigation skills and understanding of client advocacy. Today, he devotes his practice exclusively to criminal defense, guided by a firm belief in due process and the constitutional rights of the accused.
