Willis Ray, Houston Criminal Attorney

Willis Ray was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, and currently lives in Houston. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and minors in French and Psychology. He later graduated from Tulane University School of Law, where he was the Editor in Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.

He was licensed to practice law in Texas in 2004 and in Louisiana in 2007. Following a brief insurance defense practice in Texas, he worked as a prosecutor for the City of Houston, prosecuting Class C misdemeanors and violations of City Code Ordinances. It was here that Mr. Ray discovered his passion for criminal trial work.

He moved back to Louisiana, where he was a long-time public defender handling felonies that ranged from drug possessions to first degree murders. He was awarded Blackstone's Order three times by the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for not guilty verdicts in life without parole cases.

He relocated to Houston in 2022 and now works exclusively on first degree and serious felonies for Dunham & Jones.

Outside of the office, he and his wife enjoy spending time with their children, dining out, and collecting art.
