Tracy Franklin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Franklin received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri and was licensed by the Texas Supreme Court in 2008 to practice law. Among her notable law school accomplishments are, founding and serving as President of the Latin American Law Students Association; serving as Diversity Chair of the Student Bar Association; and serving as Project Coordinator of the Refugee Asylum Seekers Project.
Ms. Franklin's honors and awards while in law school include being on the Dean’s List for two semesters; receiving the Academic Achievement Award in Legal Writing and the award for Legal Research and Writing Best Brief, Respondent. She also received the Gephardt Institute for Public Service Fellowship and served in the Civil Rights and Community Justice Clinic. Since Ms. Franklin's graduation from law school, she has worked as an Assistant District and County Attorney prosecuting all manner of criminal cases in Bexar, Cameron and Guadalupe, counties. In addition, she has practiced as a criminal defense in Atascosa, Bastrop, Bell, Bexar, Burnett, Comal, Frio, Hays, Lampasas, Lee, McCollough, Travis, Williamson and Wilson counties.
Ms. Franklin is a dedicated mental health and suicide prevention educator and is a certified “ASK About Suicide to Save a Life” trainer. She has served as the Board Chair of the Central Texas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Ms. Franklin has also served as an Austin Travis County Suicide Prevention Coalition Board Member and is trained in the ASSIST suicide prevention program. She served for many years as the representative for the Texas Lawyer’s Assistance Program on the Texas Suicide Prevention Council. Ms. Franklin has served as the Chair of the State Bar of Texas Lawyers’ Assistance Program Committee, as well as a committee member.
When not working hard, Ms. Franklin spends her time raising her sweet son.
